Founded in 1954 by Afonso das Neves Mendes and his wife Msr. Bia - the great chef that gave a name to this house and for that there are some plates with her name.

Today with their sons Afonso Manuel - Kitchen Chef - and Nicolau Mendes - Manager - that are going to continue with this house and with the Alentejo's Gastronomy in it's best.

Through the years there were taken several remodellings being the last one made in 2004 to commemorate the 50 years of activity.

Restaurante Afonso is a rustic regional restaurant, where the highlights are the hunting dishes.
